"The Journey" wins awards

I thought some of my readers might be interested to know that "The Journey" received two awards in the At-Large portion of the National Federation of Press Women contest. The columns that won were "Flailing through life's embarrassments" and "River of de Nile runs deep by Cedar Creek" (humor column category - two columns form an entry) and "Please eschew the luminous heebie-jeebies" and "Typo, shmypo, who cares?" (general column category).  All can be found here on this blog.

I've been so busy that I'm just now getting around to posting! The story ran in the Ruston Daily Leader in mid-May. BTW, the second-place award was for a pair of news releases I did about the local St. Jude Radiothon, which my service group helps sponsor.

The at-large category is kind of like a regional competition for the states that do not sponsor their own NFPW contest; regional and at-large winners are sent to national competition.
